Men threatened whilst walking home
Two men walking home from a night out – were threatened by men wielding planks of wood covered in nails.

Police say the victims were robbed before the offenders made off. The incident happened in Gains Park, in Shrewsbury, near to the Onslow Pub.

It’s thought the offenders were also responsible for a disturbance outside the Indian restaurant and smashing glasses outside.

Shrewsbury CID are trawling through CCTV and are appealing for witnesses. The incident happened between 11pm and midnight on Tuesday.


North Shropshire man dies days after burgulary

An elderly North Shropshire man has died just days after his house was burgled.

The victim was in his 80s and was in the house when an offender broke in and stole a wallet.

The theft happened in Whittington on Thursday. On Sunday officers were called back to the property where the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not connecting the death to the burglary but are appealing for information.


Oswestry police investigate street fight
A street fight and possible assault is being investigated by police in Oswestry.

Two groups of men are believed to have been involved in the conflict. Officers were called to Albert Road shortly after 9pm last night.

One man had facial injuries and two others were arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police are appealing for witnesses.


Police try to trace wannabe cable theives
Police are trying to trace wannabe thieves who caused a minor explosion while trying to take electric cable.

Cable theft has risen as scrap metal prices soar. Police believe offenders broke into the Callow Quarry in Minsterley and tried to cut electric wire.

It caused an explosion that alerted staff, and two men were seen running from the scene.

It caused at least one thousand pounds worth of damage.


Otis Ferry to stand trial

Controversial Shrewsbury huntsman Otis Ferry will stand trial.

He’s charged with attacking one woman and robbing another while they tried to film him hunting.

Otis Ferry who lives at Eaton Mascot appeared in court yesterday. He will stand trial in Gloucester next week.

The 25 year old, the joint master of the South Shropshire hunt was riding with the Heythrop Hunt at the time of the incident.
