OUT FOR LUNCH
| Tuesday
18th March 2008 | 20:10
Finishing work at 10am might
seem great but I'm fast discovering whilst it has its advantages
it can be quite lonley. Now don't get me wrong I'm not complaining
or saying I go home an do nothing thats not the case I have
lots of work to do.
But working on your own is not inspiring at all, if you
are reading this and you work from home you may know what
I mean.
Today I went out with a friend who also works from home
so it was nice to break the routine of a normal day and
sit in a pub having lunch all afternoon. Now come the summer
maybe thats what I could do take along my laptop hook upto
their WiFi connection and away I go!
Actually thats not a bad
idea!
THE START OF ANOTHER WEEK
| Monday 17th March 2008 | 21:25
Well here we are Monday
and it’s the start of another week and St. Patrick's
Day. It always makes me laugh that all over the world people
celebrate and say they have Irish Ancestry for the day.
When its St. Georges Day on April 23rd will we all be celebrating
NO! it will be just another day. Sorry rant over...
I have just heard that we are set for
bad weather again in the next few days with rain and high
winds, great just what we need for Easter.
Speak tomorrow.

MOWING THE LAWN |
Saturday 15th March 2008 | 19:30
Apologies I did not have
time to write a blog yesterday, the whole day just seemed
to whiz past. Last night I went out in Telford, we started
the evening with a Chinese meal then went for a drink.
Its strange how sometimes you can have
a period of not going out then all of a sudden everyone
wants to do something, last weekend I went to Birmingham
to watch The Feeling at the Carling Academy the week before
Wolverhampton where I watched Kate Nash.
I started tidying up the garden after
the winter this morning, I have dug over the borders and
cut back some of the shrubs and planted new ones too. I
also mowed the grass for the first time this year. I'll
wait until the warmer weather before starting any further
jobs outside.
Tonight I’m staying in I’ve got a fair bit of
work to do tomorrow, so I need some chill out time.
IT’S ALL ABOUT TIMING
|
Thursday 13th March 2008 | 22:45
I forgot to fill my car
up with petrol this evening there’s quarter of a tank
left but I normally keep it at half, the last time it went
really low I was called away to report on a news item and
in the time it took to go to a garage to get petrol I was
delayed by 10 minutes this meant the competition beat me
to breaking the story.
When you work in the media time is something
you are always watching how long left on the song your playing,
how long can I talk for before the next song or timing yourself
to cross to the news or travel presenter at the correct
moment.
I have to apologise if you phone in
to the show and we don’t manage to take your call
or it’s ringing for a while, it’s not because
we aren’t bothering to answer it, but the case of
working on the next item or getting ready to talk out of
or into a song.
I stayed at the studio until 11:30 this
morning that’s the latest this week, but there was
quite a bit of work to be done. I came home did more for
an hour then gave up until later in the afternoon when I
worked on Fridays show content.
I’m planning what summer events
are happening in the area and how they can be covered on
the radio, stay tuned for more details of Oswestry’s
Relay for Life… I will bring you more later in the
month.
Time for bed it’s now 10:45pm,
for me this is a late night now!
THERE GOES DOROTHY AND TOTO |
Wednesday 12th March 2008 | 19:45
Its been another busy day today working on the new section
of our website all will be revealed next week!
I didn't sleep last night, the wind was howling around the
house, I woke around 2am to hear the sound of glass shattering.
GREAT! I know all our neighbours have double glazing including
my house and it didn't sound like that type of glass.
The greenhouse was the only thing it could be... there was
nothing I could do so I went back to sleep, well tried too...
The alarm went off at 5am this morning, I was already awake!
I left the house at 5.20am and took a torch so I could check
what damage had been caused I shone the beam at the greenhouse
it was all still intact... strange I heard glass breaking...
I then noticed it was the garage window that had broke.
I've spent some time this afternoon cleaning and boarding
the window up until I can get some new glass.
At least the fences stayed up!
Speak tomorrow!

LAZY DAYS |
Tuesday 11th March 2008 | 21:50
I’ve had a lazy day
today, the alarm on my phone went off at 5am, I arrived
at the studios for 5.30 and spent until 6am updating the
playout system with new adverts and songs etc.
It soon comes around to 6am then its
four hours of my life that just fly’s by. It’s
amazing just how quickly time passes when you are on-air.
The competition I’m running at
the moment with the Build Center is doing really well with
an unbelievable amount of calls and texts coming into the
show, this morning was just amazing so thank you to everyone
who does call me during the show. I only wish there was
more time to talk on the phone.
I left the studio this morning straight
after the show and went home to carry on with a website
I’m working on. I think the weekend caught up with
me today I fell asleep for a few hours during the afternoon.
I was hoping that I could avoid sleeping during the day
and just have a good few hours at night. I’m out all
day tomorrow (Wednesday) so that won’t be an option.
I have spent this evening working on
Wednesday’s show I spent half an hour editing the
new Delia Smith cookery programme for use tomorrow. I hope
it was worth it!!!
Until tomorrow…
WELCOME |
Monday 10th March 2008 | 14:10
Welcome to my first breakfast show blog, the plan is to
update page as often as I can.
I'm looking forward to settling in on the breakfast show
having previously presented The Big Drive Home when The
Severn first launched, I moved onto Mid-Mornings just over
a year ago, now here I am on breakfast.
I'm hoping
I quickly get into a routine, I set my alarm for 5am this
morning then left the house at 5.20am this gives me enough
time to get into the studio, write the weather and check
my e-mails before the show starts at 6am.
The show runs to a schedule which I write the day before,
each song and link has its place and helps the show run
smoothly. Carlie arrives at the studio for 7am we have a
chat about the show and if there are any problems out and
about on the roads before Carlie goes live at 7.30am with
the travel news.
Whilst the show is on air there is not much time to think
about anything else, so I lock myself away in the studio
until 10am.
Its just gone 2pm as I write this and I'm working at home
on a new section of our website, its taking a while to set
up but should be ready to go live next week.
I'll start planning tomorrow mornings show around 6pm this
evening.
Speak tomorrow!
Chris.
