A BUSY WEEK
| Saturday 3rd May 2008 | 08:40
Its been a busy week this week hence the lack of updates.

Finally we have seen some nice weather in between the showers, I've managed to go for several walks and start and tackle the garden its not messy but needed some spring maintenance as I call it.

On Wednesday Neil Bentley and I helped out with a Fashion Show in Shrewsbury for Hope House it was a great evening and I'd like to congratulate everyone who was involved they raised over £1,000.

Thank you to everyone who is contacting the show, yesterday I had over two A4 pages of birthdays. I'm fast approaching 30 on June 11th, I'm looking forward to it I'm not sure why but I will be something different.

Talking of birthdays I had a really nice surprise yesterday Sylvia Wilson dropped off a big hamper of fruit into the office to say thank you for sending her granddaughter Trudy the bouquet of the day on Thursday. So Sylvia if you are reading this thank you very much.

With it being Bank Holiday weekend it means one thing rain although they are only showers, so lets make the most of it!

Speak soon!

WE HAVE WARM WEATHER!
| Saturday 26th 2008 | 19:22
Finally a nice warm day!

I've washed and cleaned out the car, worked in the garden and been for a walk. It makes such a difference having some better weather.

Its another weekend of not going out that's three in a row now! I'm 30 in June I hope this is not a sign of things to come, you know you are old when:

- You want a bungalow not a house
- You’re proud of your lawn mower
- Your idea of a late night is 10.30pm
- You and your teeth don’t sleep together
- You look forward to a quiet night in
- You always have an ache
- Your back goes out more than you do

THAT FRIDAY FEELING | Friday 25th 2008 | 22:08
Its the weekend although according to new research it should be called the workend as we are all putting of chores until the weekend meaning we then have less time on a Saturday and Sunday for relaxing and doing other things.

I'm thinking of buying one of those mobile broadband USB modems, my mobile contract is with Orange but I'm tempted to get three mobile internet PAYG to see how well it works. I have checked its coverage and I can get a good signal in all the area's I would need it.

Although my only reservation is would I use it enough to warrant having one. At home I have broadband which is wireless around the house already which I use and we have internet in the office.

The only benefit is when I'm away from home in the summer or reporting from locations.

I'm going to have a think over the weekend.

NOT UPTO MUCH
| Thursday 24th 2008 | 18:45
Its been one of those days today where I don't get much done.

I met up with a friend for lunch and then Carlie and I are heading out to do an interview this evening for a pub that's won an award in Shrewsbury.

I think the interview will go out on Monday.

ST. GEORGES DAY
| Wednesday 23rd 2008 | 21:05
Not only is today St. Georges Day but its also my brother Peters 26th Birthday so happy birthday brother!!!

I went for a walk today seeing as the weather is not to bad, I can't wait for the warmer weather to come along its supposed to be quite warm for the weekend I guess we shall see what happens.

POLICE COMMENDATION AWARDS
| Monday 21th April 2008 | 23:05
This evening Carlie and I attended the West Mercia Police Bravery Awards in Shrewsbury its the third time I have been.

Its a great evening and really shows a different side to items we may hear in the news and how those involved reacted and helped.

WORKING ON A SUNDAY
| Sunday 20th April 2008 | 21:05
I had a few bits to do today so I called in to work, what was supposed to be a ten minute task turned into two hours because I got carried away doing other things.

I also managed to loose my USB memory stick, there's nothing important on it but its annoying that its gone, I'm sure it will turn up somewhere eventually.

KIDS TV ON A SATURDAY MORNING
| Saturday 19th April 2008 | 22:05
I was flicking through the TV channels this morning, what a load of rubbish.

Years ago we had great programmes like Saturday Swap Show, Saturday Superstore, Going Live! and No. 73 on ITV.

These days its weird cartoons and rubbish!

I'm not planning to do much today well it is my day off after all.

ITS FRIDAY
| Friday 18th April 2008 | 17:25
Friday once again that week just flew past... I'm looking forward to having two days of not having to get up until about 8am, any later than that and I end up feeling as though I have lost part of the day.

I guess that's what happens from getting up early five days a week. Even staying in bed until 7am is a rest to me.

GETTING READY FOR THE WEEKEND
| Thursday 17th April 2008 | 18:05
I've spent most of today in the studio, as well as presenting the breakfast show I also look after other aspects of the station which is what I have been doing today.

I left around 3pm although Carlie and I did go out for lunch, that was after our car scare, we had both parked our cars with a limited parking time and had gone over by an hour. We where so lucky not to have had a ticket.

I forgot that yesterday there was a feature on the breakfast show including a photo in the Border News section of Wednesdays Shropshire Star, if you have a copy take a look, I did the interview last week. It was quite strange being interviewed rather than the person who's asking the questions.

Thank you to Sarah Garrod from the Shropshire Star who wrote the article.

HALFWAY THROUGH THE WEEK
| Wednesday 16th April 2008 | 19:00
This week seems to be whizzing by, I can't believe its Wednesday already!

Apart from working on tomorrow's show I've not been up to much else today, I really need to get out into the garden but with the rain on and off I think I'll see how the weather is at the weekend.

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY
| Tuesday 15th April 2008 | 18:00
Twice today I have been caught out in the showers my fault for running to the car with no coat. I suppose its good for the gardens... although I'm sure we will still have a hosepipe ban in the summer :-)

This afternoon I've been working on what events we are going to attend this summer. So far we are covering all the major ones in our area but if you have an event you think might be appropriate let me know!

I'm looking forward to the Shrewsbury Carnival in the summer, we had a great time last year.

We hope to take part in the Wem carnival too in September but those plans are at their early stages and I have made no official contact yet so there's a bit of a blog exclusive.

ITS MONDAY | Monday 14th April 2008 | 22:00
How quick does the weekend go? very is the answer...

When I finished the show this morning I had other work to do which I finished around 4pm this afternoon, then it was to work on tomorrows show. Its going to be about rubbish gadgets.

I decided the topic after spending ages this lunchtime trying to use my electric tin opener. I'm sure it would have been quicker to have used a manual one.

LAZY SUNDAY
| Sunday 13th April 2008 | 19:00
This weekend must have been my laziest ever! I have done absolutely nothing..

I didn't even leave the house today, maybe I'm turning into a hermit. No! I don't think I could do that I would go mad.

IS IT WORTH WASHING THE CAR?
| Saturday 12th April 2008 | 21:00
My car has not been washed for about a month now so today I decided to give it a quick clean, its not worth doing it properly yet with all the mud on the roads.

I went into work earlier this evening to sort a few adverts out that are being played on Sunday they have only just arrived on our system this afternoon. I ended up doing one or two other bits of work but only for an hour.

I'm staying in tonight that's two night on the run, think I must have saved about £30 in total.

CHILLING OUT
| Friday 11th April 2008 | 17:05
Since taking over the breakfast show I have only worked one full weekend its quite nice having the weekend off and thinking I have a whole two days without worrying about work.

Although that's not strictly true as I prepare for Mondays show on a Sunday which takes a few hours.

This lunchtime I met up with Neil Bentley in The Wilfred Owen for lunch, its something we try and do every so often to catch up with what's going on. At the moment we are planning our summer activities and outside broadcasts.

I've decided to stay in this evening in fact for the whole weekend its gets boring going out all the time and t's a way of saving money for my new car too.

ONE DAY UNTIL THE WEEKEND
| Thursday 10th April 2008 | 29:35
I'm beginning to like Thursdays, I make it my last busy day before the weekend.

Then on Friday when I finish the show at 10am I don't have anything planned unless something comes us that needs dealing with.

I'm meeting up with neil tomorrow for a bit and then I think I'll have a lazy day.

A TRIP TO THE CINEMA | Wednesday 9th April 2008 | 21:45
I went to the cinema in Shrewsbury last night to watch Son of Rambo, it was not what I expected but a good film never the less.

The last few times I have been to the cinema its been quite empty, I've been on different days too. It was Bargain Tuesday yesterday, I remember years ago it used to be packed out.

I wonder if its because people can't afford it these days or just that there are not many good films about? Another thought is that I'm just going to see the wrong films, the last one was Sweeny Todd.

I'm just putting the final touches to tomorrow's show, when Jade Goody will be talking about Eskimo's... its best not to ask!!!

BARGAIN TUESDAY
| Tuesday 8th April 2008 | 18:45
Its bargain Tuesday at the cinema in Shrewsbury tonight, how cheap am I? No, don't answer that...

I'm heading to see the new film Son of Rambo it looks quite good, I will let you know what I think tomorrow.

I think the show went well today, the number of calls I'm getting is fantastic as soon as I put the receiver down the lights start flashing again. Apologies if you get the engaged tone or it just rings out. There is only myself in the studio so if I don't answer it means I'm getting the next feature ready.

MONDAY MAHEM
| Monday 7th April 2008 | 19:15
You know when your having one of those days everything you do goes wrong, well that happened to me this morning, the computer not playing what it should and myself pressing the wrong buttons.

I'm putting it down to be Monday and having worked all weekend, Mondays are always a strange day.

I have just finished working on Tuesdays show and now I'm switching the computer off for the rest of the evening.

Speak tomorrow.

SNOWY SUNDAY | Sunday 6th April 2008 | 17:55
Its Sunday afternoon I’m currently on-air standing in for Martin, its been trying to snow on and off at various times today. I have just spoke to a friend in Telford who tells me they have a good covering. Great for the kids I suppose they don’t get much chance to play in the snow these days.

I’m heading hope to work on tomorrows breakfast show now, I have started it this afternoon but I can’t give it my full concentration.

Back on-air in 12 hours…

LIVE FROM O2 | Saturday 5th April 2008 | 19:35
Hello to everyone who came into see us at the O2 store in Festival Square this morning.

To celebrate the stores 1st birthday I broadcast live along with Buddy the Dog our station mascot. Well done to all our winners who played burst the bubble, I have put some pictures up in the gallery.

It was a first for us today as I trialed a new way of broadcasting back to the studio using wi-fi internet technology. It worked well and we will be using it again in the future although there is a one second delay from me talking to the audio going back to the studio and then the transmitter that’s a bit off-putting but I think I’ll get used to it.

I’m off out for a meal with a friend tonight Chinese I think although I ate Chinese last Saturday too!

FRIDAY THOUGHTS | Friday 4th April 2008 | 21:10
So its Friday and the weekend is with us I’ve been installing a kitchen today with a friend. Being a typical bloke I threw away the instructions guess what yep I built two base usints and missed out one of the key supports I thought the item was just packing material.

I managed to put them together properly one I had realised what I had done.

Tomorrow I’m going to be broadcasting live from O2 in Festival Square so come down and say hello if you’re about in the area.

NOTHING HAPPENS ON A THURSDAY | Thursday 3rd April 2008 | 18:00
Not much to report today, I have been working on tomorrows show and that’s about it.

I’ve decided to look for a new car I’ve had my current one for four years and its about to do 60,000 miles so its time for a change I think. I’m looking at an Audi TT but I’m not quite sure yet.

Really I need something practical…

A GRAND DAY OUT
| Wednesday 2nd April 2008 | 20:00
Apologies for the lack of updates recently I have been quite busy but we are back on track now!

Today I went to Cadbury World in Birmingham, I last went back in 1993 so I was not sure what to expect, its changed quite a bit since my last visit but it was a great day out and interesting to learn the history of the location and of the chocolate bar as we know it today.

I was not sure of my directions getting there so thought the safest option was to go and buy a new sat nav system first. It worked as we made in in just over an hour and I only took one wrong turn when the stupid sat nav woman told me to turn left to early…

Did I bring any chocolate back? Yes a few bars and I’m going to save them for a while.
